The Vice-Chancellor, Federal University of Technology, Minna, Prof. Abdullahi Bala, FSSSN, has commissioned sets of equipment donated to the Department of Surveying and Geoinformatics. School of Environmental Technology by University of Leeds, United Kingdom.
Speaking during the commissioning ceremony held today at the School of Environmental Technology Complex, Prof. Bala having congratulated the Department, opined that the equipment will go a long way in enhancing curriculum delivery in the University. He also expressed hope that the equipment will be judiciously used by both staff and students in the Department.
The Vice-Chancellor also pledged his continuous support for the Department despite the limited resources at the University’s disposal.
While presenting the equipment for commissioning, the Head of Department, Surveyor Dr. Y. D. Opaluwa highlighted that the equipment which is valued at about 18 Million Naira, would contribute immensely to scholarship in the Department. He also disclosed that a Drone has also been donated to the Department but awaiting arrival.
The equipment included: 22 electronic digital theodolites, automatic level (Sokkisha C3E ZENITH), 8 mirror stereoscopes (Sokkisha MS 27 ), 16 sets of aerial photographs, 11 tripod stands, high target differential GPS- V30+ and A0 Plotter among others.
